For four years, Wonpil was the warm center of DAY6 without ever being its loudest voice. Unpiltered, his first mini-album since 2022's Pilmography, is the first time he's let that change.
Released on March 30, 2026, the seven-track record leads with "Highs and Lows" and runs through songs like "Toxic Love," "I've Become an Adult," and a closing track simply called "Piano" — the instrument Wonpil has built his identity on inside DAY6. The title itself is the whole thesis: Unpiltered, a pun on his name and the word "unfiltered." After years of writing within a band's collective sound, this is him with the filter off.
Why this release matters more than a typical idol solo debut
Most solo spin-offs from a band chase contrast — the ballad singer suddenly raps, the quiet member goes clubby. Wonpil does the opposite. He leans further into the thing he already was: melody, sincerity, piano-forward songwriting. That's a riskier bet, because it invites direct comparison to DAY6 itself. On first listen, "Highs and Lows" mostly earns it — the song sounds less like a departure and more like a diary entry the band arrangement would normally have softened.
The rollout backed the intimacy up. Instead of a stadium-scale spectacle, Wonpil followed the album with a three-day solo concert at Jamsil Indoor Stadium (May 1–3, 2026) — a room-sized statement for a room-sized record.
The honest verdict
Unpiltered won't convert anyone who never cared for DAY6's earnestness. But that was never the point. It's the sound of a musician who spent years being dependable finally asking to be heard — and mostly succeeding. For longtime My Day fans, it's the most revealing 20-something minutes Wonpil has put out.
